President – Johnny Huynh

Johnny is passionate and expert technical generalist. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computing Science from the University of Alberta, a variety of technical and management certifications, and has a broad range of industry experience. A sample of his experience includes database kernel development, world-class performance benchmarking, system and application integrations, and support management for Fortune 500’s.

Currently, Johnny is a Technical Architect at Alberta Blue Cross, responsible for setting the technology strategies and roadmaps for a wide range of infrastructure initiatives, such as Cloud, Servers & Storage, End-User Computing, and “all things Microsoft”. In his “spare” time, he is a very big advocate of technology education and volunteers at multiple schools through the “Hour of Code” movement, and is a co-founder of DiscoverCodingZone.com, a technology summer camp program for elementary-aged children.

Vice-President – Henry Bosch

Henry was involved with computers fairly early, and by 15 had his own computer consulting company (Elemental Computers). Henry attended NAIT and completed a diploma in Business Management, Computer Network Administration certificate, and Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology (Network Management) degree. As of 2010, he is working on completing his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He has been working with Alberta Blue Cross since April of 2004, and is Technical Lead of the workstation and Windows server team. He has been happily married since 2006 to Laura, and has three kids (Ian (2007), Benjamin (2009), and Abigail (2011)). Henry spends many hours of his spare time doing volunteer server/network administration for Parkland Immanuel Christian School or being involved in other community projects.

Past-President – Thomas Rayner

Thomas Rayner is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) with over 15 years of experience in the IT industry. His background is in Cloud and Datacenter Management, specializing in DevOps, systems and process automation, and PowerShell. Thomas is a prominent international speaker, best-selling author, and instructor covering a vast array of IT topics. Thomas is very active within the technical community and a variety of Microsoft technical and strategic teams. He is the President of the Edmonton Microsoft User Group.

Thomas graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) three times; for a diploma in Network Engineering Technology (NET), a Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Technology majoring in Network Management (BAIST), and a Bachelor of Technology majoring in Technology Management (BTech), achieving honors with distinction in all three. Thomas remains actively connected to NAIT as a part-time instructor, and as a member of the Industry Advisory Committee for the BAIST program which he has chaired since 2014.

By day, Thomas works for PCL Constructors on their DevOps and Automation team. Thomas enjoys working with a wide variety of different products and technologies, particularly emerging and disruptive technologies and automation-related products. His position with PCL affords him the luxury of facing interesting challenges every day.

Past-President – Adam McDougall

Adam is a passionate advocate of Microsoft products within the Enterprise. Recently Adam has joined Alberta Blue Cross as a Senior Systems Administrator.

Previously Adam has been a guest speaker for the Microsoft TechDays conferences and specializes in Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Deployment strategies.

When he is not playing around (and breaking) new products, Adam is a family man with very supportive wife and three kids.

If being a Systems Administrator and Husband/Father is not enough abuse, you can also find Adam as a football and basketball referee in the Edmonton area
